About The Position

The Voice Data Communication Engineer, Journeyman will provide technical direction, engineering expertise, and support across a variety of communication domains, including the planning, designing, development, installation, testing, and maintenance of large communications networks. This entry-level position will allow you to leverage foundational skills while gaining hands-on experience and professional growth within a dynamic environment. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience may be considered.
One of the following certifications is mandatory to qualify for the position: BICSI Installer 2 Copper or BICSI Installer 2 - Fiber
Top-Secret Clearance is required.
Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Nice To Haves

At least 3 years of relevant work experience in voice/data communications engineering is preferred but not required for candidates with certifications and strong technical aptitude.
Foundational understanding of voice and data communication technologies, protocols, and standards (e.g., VoIP, TCP/IP, SIP).
Ability to analyze, interpret, and resolve network issues efficiently.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
Interest in developing skills in large communications network environments.
Familiarity with network and telecommunication tools and diagnostic utilities (hardware and software).

Responsibilities

Assist in planning, designing, and developing large-scale voice and data communications networks to meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
Participate in the installation and deployment of voice/data communication systems, ensuring adherence to organizational and industry standards.
Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of communication network components to ensure reliable functionality and optimal performance.
Support the maintenance and repair of network infrastructure, addressing and resolving issues to ensure uninterrupted operation of communication systems.
Assist in preparing detailed documentation, network configurations, and system procedures to support ongoing operations and future upgrades.
Work closely with cross-functional technical teams to coordinate activities and implement communication solutions that align with business needs.
Apply engineering knowledge to meet organizational goals while ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Ensures that adequate and appropriate planning is provided to direct building architects and planners in building communications spaces and media pathways meet industry standards.
