About The Position

The Vocational Service Specialist serves as part of a multidisciplinary team and offers assessment, education, and support to clients about competitive work opportunities, assists in direct job placement, and provides long-term job coaching. He or she advocates for clients as necessary, including communicating with employers and coordinating care with other service providers to improve client job retention. Incumbent also conducts liaison in the community, collaborating with potential employers, linking with other employment service providers in the region to further an integrated system of care, and serves on committees and interagency teams to promote employment opportunities for individuals with mental illness, with most of the services being provided in the community. Oasis Vocational Center provides vocational rehabilitation services to prepare and keep people employed. Working in conjunction with mental health service providers and the Department of Rehabilitation to assist clients in reaching their employment and career goals through: Job coaching and training opportunities, Job development with employers, Identifying job opportunities and job placement based on client interest, Provide ongoing Job Support.

Requirements

  • Associate of Arts degree in vocational counseling, child counseling, development or psychology; social services or related social science or behavioral science field, or High School Diploma (with experience) or BA.
  • At least two (2) years of experience working in a mental health setting or related field.
  • Experience in vocational rehabilitation, employment placement, job coaching, job placement and/or job counseling may be substituted.
  • Valid CA Driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

  • Supervision for BBS hours for AMFT, ACSW, and APCC professionals (where applicable).
