About The Position

The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is seeking a motivated and highly skilled Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor II's to join our Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR) team located in St. George, UT. This position involves providing counseling and guidance while assisting individuals with disabilities to obtain employment and independence. It allows for the practice of the latest techniques in rehabilitation counseling and the development of strong partnerships with other agencies and programs to help clients enter or reenter the labor market.

Requirements

• Has a Bachelors or Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or a related field of study.
• Has experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling or providing vocational counseling, employment counseling, job development and placement, career coaching or academic training to individuals with disabilities.
• Has experience providing direct services to individuals with disabilities.
• Masters in VRC or related field + 1 year work related experience

• Current state of Utah employees.
• One or more years of professional experience in counseling.

Responsibilities

• Provides counseling services to a combination of general caseload and transition youth, ages 14-24.
• Provides full performance level vocational counseling and guidance, training and selective job placement services to individuals with disabilities.
• Partners with the community and provides outreach to vendors to collaborate and coordinate agency activities and facilitate agency goals.
• Travels weekly to provide outreach to schools, parents, business partners, community partners and training meetings.
• Exercises a great deal of independent decision making.
