About The Position

Unitek Learning is seeking a full-time Vocational Nursing (VN) Instructor. This role involves teaching in the classroom, labs, and clinical settings. The instructor will be responsible for continuous improvement of teaching methodologies, utilizing online activities, and revising syllabi. They will also maintain student records, assist with program data collection, and teach courses at various times and locations as needed. Clinical rotations may include days, evenings, weekdays, and weekends. The position also requires participation in professional development and college committees.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with current licensure in the state in which you are applying to teach.
  • 3 Years bedside experience with Bachelors Degree or 6 years experience with an Associates Degree.
  • Able to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Vocational Nursing.
  • Experience which demonstrates: Current knowledge of nursing practice; ability to mentor students in classroom, lab and clinical settings; ability to work independently without close supervision; broad knowledge of nursing sciences; successful handling of day to day operations in the nursing lab; proficient, strong communications skills verbal and written; current knowledge/experience in clinical setting.
  • Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching in the classroom, labs, and clinicals.
  • Making continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies/techniques in teaching.
  • Demonstrating or willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.
  • Assisting with reviewing and revising the syllabus for specific courses within the program and instructional guidelines.
  • Submitting required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
  • Keeping current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Maintaining student records of attendance, grades, and skills check-off forms.
  • Assisting with program data collection that meets set due dates and deadlines.
  • Assisting with updating and maintaining student files as related to clinical requirements, immunizations, and educational requirements.
  • Teaching courses at a variety of times and locations in response to program needs.
  • Teaching both lecture content and clinical rotations (clinical rotations can be days, and/or evenings, on weekdays and/or weekends).
  • Participating in professional development; maintaining CE hours to ensure renewed licensure.
  • Taking responsibility for staying current with college updates.
  • Actively participating in committees as assigned, based on availability, taking into consideration teaching responsibilities as priority.
