Vocational Counselor I - Chantilly, VA Location
About The Position
Omega Health Services is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and relationship-focused Vocational Counselor to support veterans and individuals with disabilities in exploring career options, preparing for employment, connecting with local employers, and developing the skills and confidence needed to succeed at work. The role focuses on helping people identify their strengths and goals and build greater independence through meaningful employment. The counselor provides individualized career counseling, employment planning, and job-readiness support; helps candidates prepare resumes, applications, and interviews; identifies and matches job opportunities; and develops partnerships with local employers to promote inclusive hiring. The position also includes job coaching, onboarding assistance, workplace follow-up, collaboration with families and community partners, and accurate, timely service documentation. The counselor manages a caseload, coordinates competing priorities, meets deadlines, and works independently throughout the surrounding communities.
Requirements
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel throughout the assigned service area.

- Provide individualized career counseling, employment planning, and job-readiness support.
- Assist with resumes, job applications, interview preparation, and workplace skills.
- Identify job openings and match individuals with positions aligned with their abilities and interests.
- Reach out to local businesses, develop employment opportunities, and promote inclusive hiring.
- Provide job coaching, onboarding assistance, and follow-up to help individuals maintain employment.
- Collaborate with employers, families, referral partners, and community organizations.
- Complete case notes, service documentation, and required reports accurately and on time.
- Coordinate multiple priorities and meet service deadlines while working independently throughout the surrounding communities.
