Boston Conservatory Vocal Academy is a vocal training program for high school students, college students, and avocational singers 18 years of age or older who wish to study western classical, musical theater, or contemporary singing at an advanced level in a conservatory setting. Participants will develop their voices, language, diction, and general music skills, in addition to learning appropriate repertoire. The program consists of 11 one-hour private lessons with Conservatory vocal pedagogy graduate students. Lesson schedules are arranged privately between participant and instructor. The Vocal Academy Instructor has the following duties and responsibilities: Provide 11 one-hour, one-on-one instruction to each assigned participant in the Conservatory’s Vocal Academy extension program Arrange instruction schedules on an individual basis with each assigned participant, and adhere to agreed upon schedules Establish learning outcomes and select repertoire for each assigned participant based on individual needs Create an assessment rubric that aligns with those outcomes so that the participant can be effectively evaluated over the course of the Academy At the end of the Academy, write an assessment that describes each participant’s progress and where further opportunities for improvement may be present
