About The Position

The Boston Conservatory Vocal/Choral Intensive is a two-week summer program for pre-college singers that serves as a recruitment tool for our undergraduate voice programs. Instruction in this program is primarily served by current Conservatory faculty, with support from graduate students for teaching small sections of music theory/sight-singing, individual voice coachings, as well as serving in the choir. Dates: June 18-July 3, 2026 Voice Instructors will collaborate with VCI faculty and Program Director to plan curriculum for and teach approximately 16 30-minute voice lessons weekly, for two weeks. Hours will be dependent on student enrollment, and the goal for enrollment is for Voice Instructors to have a studio of 8 students. Instructors will attend two staff meetings and all opening events, as well as both solo recital events and the Grand Final performance and reception. Classes will be held 4 days a week and will not include the July 4th Holiday. Initial Meeting: 2 hours [pre-program] Orientation: 2 hours Day 1 Studio Meetings: 2 hours Week 1 Meeting: 90 mins Week 2 Meeting: 90 mins Grand Finale Performance/Reception: 3 Hours Attend Vocal Recitals: 6 hours TOTAL Non-Teaching Hours: [16.5] Teaching: Exact Schedule TBD; previous years schedule Monday-Friday 2pm-4pm

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • All candidates must be current graduate students at Boston Conservatory.
  • Candidates must have experience in either voice teaching, theory teaching, or choral singing.
  • Candidates must be able to establish safe learning environments where students can thrive, and serve as ambassadors for our Conservatory voice programs.
  • Resume outlining your teaching experience
  • Teaching Philosophy Statement, particularly as it pertains to young classical singers
