VMWare VCF Systems Engineer / Administrator
About The Position
We are seeking a VMware VCF Systems Engineer / Administrator to support the deployment and sustainment of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 environments within the NIPR ISN, SIPR ISN, and additional AFLCMC/HNI and 83rd NOS programs. This individual will work closely with the Enterprise Architect responsible for the overall solution design and will serve as a key technical resource responsible for implementation, administration, upgrades, and operational support of VMware VCF technologies across enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with VMware infrastructure technologies, enterprise virtualization, and systems administration within secure DoD environments.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience deploying and administering VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
- Strong knowledge of VMware technologies including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX, and vSAN.
- Experience supporting enterprise virtualization environments in secure or classified infrastructures.
- Knowledge of infrastructure upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and system administration best practices.
- Experience troubleshooting VMware infrastructure and virtualization issues.
- Familiarity with DoD enterprise environments including NIPRNet and SIPRNet.
- Ability to work collaboratively with enterprise architects, engineers, and operations teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP, or VCF-related certifications.
- Experience supporting Air Force or DoD programs.
- Familiarity with automation and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Experience with storage, networking, and cybersecurity integration within VMware environments.
- Understanding of RMF, STIG compliance, and enterprise security requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and deployment of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 environments across NIPR ISN, SIPR ISN, and related AFLCMC/HNI and 83rd NOS initiatives.
- Execute deployment activities based on architecture and engineering designs developed by the Enterprise Architect team.
- Perform installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of VMware VCF technologies and associated infrastructure components.
- Support lifecycle management activities including upgrades, patches, migrations, and system optimization efforts.
- Administer and maintain VMware virtualization platforms including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, vSAN, and related technologies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, virtualization, and system performance issues within enterprise environments.
- Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to ensure compliance with security and operational requirements.
- Support system monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and operational reporting.
- Document deployment procedures, configuration standards, and operational processes.
- Participate in system validation, testing, and accreditation support activities as required.
- Provide ongoing administrative and technical support for VMware VCF infrastructure environments.
- Support additional VMware-related projects and enterprise initiatives as assigned.
