About The Position

COCC is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer with strong VMware expertise to support and enhance our enterprise virtual infrastructure. Requirements

  • 10-15 years enterprise level experience
  • Bachelors degree preferred but will consider appropriate work experience and/or certifications
  • Strong experience administering VMware vSphere environments in an enterprise setting
  • Hands‑on expertise with ESXi hosts, vCenter, clusters, snapshots, HA/DRS, and storage integration
  • Experience supporting virtualized Windows and Linux server environments
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure security, monitoring, and performance optimization
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and testing in virtual environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
  • A continuous improvement mindset with interest in automation and modern infrastructure practices

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support enterprise VMware infrastructure, including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and clustered environments
  • Manage and optimize virtual machines supporting Windows, Linux, and AIX operating systems
  • Ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and security across VMware platforms
  • Troubleshoot complex virtualization and system‑level issues; deliver root cause analysis
  • Perform proactive monitoring, capacity planning, performance tuning, and health checks
  • Support infrastructure security controls and assist with audit and compliance requirements
  • Deploy, maintain, and decommission virtual systems per corporate standards
  • Partner with application, network, and business teams on infrastructure initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements within the VMware stack
  • Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rotation supporting mission‑critical systems
  • Support disaster recovery environments, including replication and DR testing
  • Research and evaluate emerging virtualization and infrastructure technologies
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting workflows
