VMRD Richland Research Farm Summer Intern
About The Position
This summer internship is a hands-on role on a research farm supporting the animal care team with daily husbandry for livestock and companion animals, including feeding, watering, and cleaning animal areas. Interns will also assist with research studies by learning and following study protocols, helping with routine data collection, and maintaining accurate documentation. The position emphasizes learning and practicing strong biosecurity procedures to protect animal health and support high-quality research in a safe, team-oriented environment. An action-packed summer of learning the role of a research technician and how to support vaccine and pharmaceutical research in livestock and companion animal species. This is a hands-on in-person role working with animals daily, Monday through Friday. Some early mornings are required.
Requirements
- Be enrolled or have just completed a Bachelor’s degree program
- Experience and a passion for working with animals
- Relocate or live close enough to drive to work each day
- Great attitude and a willingness to learn!
Nice To Haves
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds is not required, but is preferred
