About The Position

Summit County Public Health is seeking a Vital Statistics Supervisor to work full-time (35 hours per week), Monday through Friday, in our Vital Statistics program. This impactful role oversees daily administration, legal compliance, and staff training for Summit County Vital Statistics operations, ensuring the accurate processing of birth, death, and fetal death records. Additionally, the role manages program finances, liaises with government agencies, and drives continuous service improvements to support public and interagency needs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Public Health or a related field and experience that demonstrates the ability to meet specific job duties.
Three to five years' directly related work experience.
Valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability and insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

Oversees the registration and processing of all birth, death, and fetal deaths occurring in Summit County.
Manages the ongoing conversion and archiving of vital documents.
Supervises Vital Statistics staff, offering guidance and continuous training to ensure unified policy enforcement.
Continuously evaluates customer service delivery to create and execute customer experience improvements.
Interprets state and county regulations concerning birth and death issues.
Enforces state and local vital statistics laws amongst doctors, hospitals, and funeral directors.
Prepares applications for registration of birth, death and fetal death events, affidavit to amend records, burial, cremation and transient permit issuance, and acknowledgment of paternity affidavits.
Collaborates with local, state, and federal agencies regarding laws, policies, and procedures, and data verification requests.
Oversees fee collections, monitors budget allocations, and analyzes long-term funding projections for program and staffing needs.
Prepares comprehensive administrative and operational reports tracking vital statistics program performance.
Provides coverage for the main agency reception desk.
Maintains up to date knowledge of local and state vital statistics laws, rules and procedures.
