The Visual Merchandising Manager leads the execution of Burberry's visual merchandising strategy across the East Coast and Canada, translating global direction into impactful, commercially effective customer experiences. By partnering cross-functionally and guiding regional store teams, this role ensures exceptional brand presentation, consistent execution, and operational excellence while supporting business growth and customer engagement.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of progressive visual merchandising experience in fashion, luxury, premium or high-volume retail, including multi-store or regional responsibility; prior people leadership experience preferred.
  • Portfolio required, demonstrating strong examples of windows, mannequin styling, product presentation, floor planning, installations and commercially effective visual execution.
  • Strong creative judgement, fashion awareness and understanding of luxury visual standards, with the ability to protect brand image while adapting direction to local market and store needs.
  • Commercially adaptable and focused, with the ability to interpret sales, sell-through, inventory and assortment data and convert insight into clear visual actions.
  • Open minded, flexible and solution oriented; comfortable reprioritising quickly and working independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Proven ability to coach, influence and build productive relationships with store teams, senior leaders and regional or central partners.
  • Excellent organisation, project management and written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and visual planning or design tools is advantageous.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the East region and work a flexible schedule aligned to retail and installation needs, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays when required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or formal study in visual merchandising, fashion merchandising, interior or spatial design, visual communications, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Own the visual merchandising strategy and execution for the East region, translating global and Americas direction into compelling, consistent and locally relevant store experiences.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of seasonal floor sets, product launches, window installations, mannequin styling, visual rotations, events, pop-ups, renovations and new store openings across the region.
  • Balance creative excellence with commercial priorities by using sales performance, sell-through, inventory, assortment and local market insight to optimise product placement, space productivity and visual storytelling.
  • Adapt global guidelines thoughtfully to individual store architecture, assortment, stock availability and customer needs while protecting brand integrity and visual consistency.
  • Partner closely with Retail, Merchandising, Marketing, Client Engagement, Store Design, Operations and Central Visual Merchandising to align priorities, resolve execution challenges and deliver business objectives.
  • Establish a clear regional cadence of store visits, remote reviews, photographic feedback, reporting and follow-up; identify risks early and communicate practical solutions, ownership and timelines.
  • Coach, train and develop Visual Merchandisers, store leaders and store teams, building capability and accountability for the daily maintenance of visual standards.
  • Manage regional VM calendars, tools, props, vendors, installations, travel and approved expenditure, ensuring safe, timely and cost-conscious execution.
  • Adhere to the company Travel & Expense (T&E) Policy, ensuring all travel planning, bookings and expense submissions are compliant, timely and cost effective.
  • Share field insights, best practices and competitor observations with regional and central partners to improve guidelines, assortments and future visual initiatives.
  • Remain hands-on, open minded and flexible, adjusting plans quickly in response to changing trading priorities, product deliveries and business needs.
