About The Position

Acuren is seeking a CWI to support laboratory operations in Santa Ana, California. This is a casual part-time laboratory position. The role conducts visual, nondestructive, and destructive testing for aerospace and defense work, following applicable industry standards and client specifications. It also performs metallographic inspections and mechanical testing, supports welder and procedure qualifications, applies relevant codes and acceptance criteria, and maintains inspection records and reports.

Requirements

• AWS QC-1 Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• 3–5 years of experience.
• Certifiable in SNT-TC-1A Visual Testing (VT) Level II.
• Experience in metallurgy or metallographic inspection.

Nice To Haves

• Additional certifications such as MT, PT, UT, or RT.

Responsibilities

• Conduct visual, nondestructive, and destructive testing in accordance with applicable industry standards and client specifications for aerospace and defense work.
• Perform metallographic inspections, tensile testing, and bend tests, including preparing and inspecting samples for welder performance and procedure qualifications.
• Interpret and apply applicable codes and standards to verify welds meet acceptance criteria.
• Review welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder performance qualification (WPQ) records; witness and validate welder qualification tests.
• Maintain detailed inspection records, photographic evidence, and dimensional measurements; compile acceptance and rejection data and submit reports to engineering, production, or quality teams.
• Follow industry codes and aerospace and defense requirements, including applicable DoD guidance, NAS-410, and SNT-TC-1A.

Benefits

• Pay range of $51.92–$82.69 per hour, depending on experience and applicable certifications.
