Visual Inspector - API
About The Position
Acuren is seeking a Visual Inspector - API to support operations in Tinley Park, IL. This role involves performing visual and non-destructive examinations of static and dynamic pressure retaining equipment according to API and ASME standards. The inspector will submit technically accurate reports on equipment condition, provide recommendations for repair, re-rate, replacement, or alteration, and offer technical input on welding and metallurgical issues. Additionally, the role requires providing technical guidance on non-destructive examination techniques and procedures, and fully complying with all Acuren and client safe work practices, actively participating in site safety initiatives. Willingness to travel is also a requirement.
Requirements
- Certification of American Petroleum Institute Standards 510/570
- 5 – 10 years’ experience or 2+ years on site experience
- In-depth working knowledge of API 510/570 and ASME standards
- Experience working in direct support of petrochemical facility engineers

- Additional API 653 or CWI a plus
Responsibilities
- Perform visual and non-destructive examination of static and dynamic pressure retaining equipment in accordance with American Petroleum Institute (API) standards and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) at the direction of the client.
- Submit technically accurate reports to the client documenting equipment condition.
- Provide the client with technical recommendations for the repair, re-rate, replacement, and/or alteration of plant equipment, as required for safe operation within stated operating parameters for durations specified by the client.
- Provide technical input to the client as required for welding and metallurgical issues.
- Provide technical guidance on the application of non-destructive examination techniques and procedures.
- Fully comply with all Acuren and client safe work practices and actively participate in all site safety initiatives.
- Willingness to travel if needed.
Benefits
- Pay Transparency: As per applicable state law the job posting pay range is $39.56-$65.93/hr depending on experience and applicable certifications.
