About The Position
McFarland Clinic has an opening for an energetic Visual Field Technician/Ophthalmic Assistant for its Ames Eye Care Center. The candidate is expected to be a team player, willing to learn basic ophthalmic techniques as well as the working of advanced ophthalmic equipment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or HiSET
- Excellent customer service skills and willing to be able to multi-task.
- Keyboard and computer experience.
Nice To Haves
- Ophthalmic experience preferred but not required/ on the job training available.
- One year of work experience in medical office setting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Educates patients and performs ancillary testing: Visual field, topo, and OCT.
- Prepare patients for exam or treatments, takes visual acuity and performs basic screening tests.
- Takes brief history and other medical information needed.
- Answers patients questions and reinforces patient education and treatment.
