Visual Designer, Brand

Firefly TechnologyNew York, NY
$110,000 - $140,000Onsite

About The Position

Firefly's brand is often the first thing schools, hospitals, hotels, and workplace security teams use to decide whether to trust us. Every surface — a booth, a deck, an install guide — needs to feel as considered and clear as the product itself. We're hiring a Visual Designer to own how the Firefly brand shows up across print and digital: tradeshow graphics, sales decks, install and product guides, packaging, and the long tail in between. The brand system is young and the surface area is wide. You'll have real authority to shape how a defining American safety brand looks and reads in the world. This is an in-office role based in our New York City office. You should apply if: You want to work on something that matters. The collateral you design is how a school district, a hospital procurement lead, or a hotel operator first decides to trust Firefly with their building. You want to build, not maintain. Firefly's brand system is young. You'll define how it shows up in print, in space, on packaging, and in hand — not inherit a 200-page guidelines doc and police it. You're equally comfortable in print and pixels. You can spec a trim and bleed for a print job in the morning, lay out a 60-slide sales deck in the afternoon, and design a booth wall by end of week without losing the thread of what makes it all feel like one brand. You want to be with the best. You'll work alongside teammates from Apple, Verkada, and Pentagram who care deeply about craft and speed, and ship relentlessly.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional visual or brand design experience, ideally including time in-house at a brand-led company and/or at an agency or studio doing identity and brand systems work
  • A portfolio that demonstrates range across digital and print, with projects where you owned the work from concept through print production
  • Deep sensitivity to typography, layout, and information hierarchy — you can take dense technical content and make it legible and scannable
  • Demonstrated ability to work within and extend an existing brand system — knowing when to follow guidelines and when to complement them
  • Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop at minimum), with real comfort prepping files for print
  • Strong production chops — bleeds, trims, color profiles, paper stocks, finishing — and the judgment to spec a job correctly the first time
  • Comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy: you can scope your own work, run multiple parallel projects, and ship without close oversight
  • Strong written and verbal communication — you can present work, defend choices, and bring stakeholders along

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing for tradeshows, conferences, or environmental/spatial brand applications
  • Packaging design experience, including dielines and direct work with packaging vendors
  • Experience designing technical documentation, instruction guides, or other information-dense print collateral
  • Motion or basic animation skills (After Effects, Rive, or similar)
  • Illustration or icon-system design as part of your toolkit
  • Experience at a hardware, IoT, or other product company where the brand has to live on a physical object as well as a screen
  • Exposure to hospitality, healthcare, education, public safety, or other regulated or trust-driven markets

Responsibilities

  • Own the visual execution of the Firefly brand across print and digital — tradeshow graphics and environmental design, printed handouts and one-pagers, installation and product guides, sales and investor decks, packaging graphics, event collateral, and everything else a growing company needs
  • Partner with marketing, sales, product, and ops to translate ambiguous briefs into finished, on-brand artifacts — bringing strong opinions on type, layout, and information hierarchy from kickoff to print-ready file
  • Evolve the brand system itself: refine and extend our guidelines, build out templates and components, and make decisions that will define how Firefly looks for years to come
  • Manage production end-to-end — prepress, print vendors, large-format and signage fabricators, packaging suppliers — and own the quality bar from first proof to delivered piece
  • Design content-dense materials — install guides, product guides, technical handouts — where hierarchy and clarity matter as much as anything on screen
  • Bring craft to functional surfaces: packaging, install guides, and signage that hold up in the environments they actually live in
  • Maintain a shared library of assets, templates, and source files so the rest of the company can move fast without breaking the brand
  • Set the bar for visual craft at Firefly as we scale
