About The Position

Our client is a mechanical contracting company with locations in Arkansas and Oklahoma. They are working on projects across the southern U.S. and have been in business for over 40 years. The company is one of the largest mechanical contractors in Arkansas and surrounding regions. The company promotes a culture that allows for a good work/ life balance for all employees. Visual Design Construction (VDC) Lead Work Environment: Remote or in office close to one of their main office hubs (Rogers, Little Rock, Barling, AR or Tulsa, OK), Full-time, M-F schedule. The VDC Leader is a leadership position responsible for providing computer-aided drafting and other assistance to the VDC Manager and consulting with managers, shop foremen, and other field personnel as needed. The ideal candidate will have a proven work history in Virtual Design Construction within the mechanical plumbing industry or a licensed plumber with a history working in the field and a desire to move to an office setting and willing to train in Computer-Aided Design. Candidate profile: Create and edit drawings to meet specifications during actual construction utilizing: CADmep and Navisworks Good understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems and the integration of same with electrical, fire protection, and building systems. Good understanding of the test and balance process and requirements. Good understanding of building automation systems and sequences as it relates to MEP. Good understanding of MEPF related safety regulations. Strong grasp of mechanical and plumbing engineering concepts and applicable codes. Support and coordinate with the prefabrication team and establish timelines as needed and approved by CAD Manager and Field Foreman. Work with multiple stakeholders to identify and resolve complex issues as it relates to MEPF design to fabrication to installation. Manage complex meetings with multiple attendees, issue minutes promptly and follow up with participants for deliverables. Assist CAD Manager with project tasks as assigned. Perform database entry. Classify and file drawings. Maintain a positive attitude with team unit as well as good public relations. Perform other duties as assigned or needed

Requirements

  • Ability to read construction drawings and construction specifications (CDT Certified)
  • Experience as a MEPF coordinator/designer
  • Ability to read plans and specifications, Construction Document Technologist is a plus (CDT)
  • Commercial construction experience preferred
  • Proficient computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite, ACC, Autodesk AEC Collection, Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Fabrication
  • Ability to work with blueprints, schematics, and sketches
  • Experience with a mechanical contractor VDC Department or Journeyman Plumber License and a minimum of 4 years of plumbing experience
  • Must be detail-orientated, have good customer relations, problem solving, Critical Thinking Skills, and work well in a highly collaborative environment
  • Journeyman Electrician or Plumber License
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Aided Drafting
  • Good understanding of mechanical and plumbing systems and the integration of same with electrical, fire protection, and building systems
