About The Position

The Visitors Center Transportation Clerk serves as the first point of contact for all inbound and outbound drivers, ensuring efficient check-in processes, accurate documentation, and smooth yard operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, operational awareness, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced transportation environment. As a Visitors Center Transportation Clerk, you’ll build a range of operational and customer service skills while playing a key role in ensuring the efficient flow of drivers, equipment, and shipments through the facility. You will be expected to consistently perform your responsibilities with accuracy and urgency while working collaboratively with transportation, warehouse, and yard teams. In addition, all team members are expected to follow established safety, security, and site procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Team members may work evening, overnight, and weekend shifts, with voluntary and scheduled overtime as needed (additional pay for overtime).
  • Basic math, reading comprehension, and computer skills.
  • Adherence to safety protocols, wearing necessary personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying conditions, from extreme temperatures to noisy environments
  • Strong safety orientation and ability to work independently or within a team
  • Physical fitness to move continuously throughout the facility, lift up to 70 pounds, and operate power equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience in transportation, logistics, warehouse, or gatehouse operations preferred
  • Previous experience in distribution center operations or warehouse settings

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in all inbound and outbound drivers in a timely and professional manner
  • Verify and validate driver paperwork, including bills of lading, delivery appointments, and load documentation
  • Ensure compliance with site procedures, safety protocols, and security requirements
  • Communicate drop lane assignments and provide clear instructions to drivers
  • Maintain accurate records of driver arrivals, departures, and load status in internal systems
  • Conduct routine yard audits to verify trailer locations, seal integrity, and overall yard accuracy
  • Coordinate with operations and transportation leaders to support operational flow
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies, delays, or documentation issues as needed
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to yard management and driver experience
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional visitors center environment
  • Prioritize safety by adhering to proper procedures
  • Conduct yard audits to verify equipment on the yard
