About The Position

This is a union position. The Visitor Services Senior Representative is responsible for assisting the Admissions Manager and Assistant Manager, including advanced cash handling and financial responsibilities, as well as performing all functions of the Visitor Services Representative position. The role involves serving as a key point of contact for Admissions staff, providing direction and guidance, and ensuring appropriate staffing for Visitor Services functions. This position also requires maintaining an orderly system for supplies, setting high standards for customer service, and acting as a liaison for the Admissions team to all other areas of the Science Center.

Requirements

  • High school graduate, or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills.
  • Experience with handling cash.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Comfortable with mobility through the Science Center and longer periods of stationary responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership ability preferred.
  • One-year related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Admissions Manager and Assistant Manager with advanced cash handling and financial responsibilities.
  • Perform all functions of the Visitor Services Representative position.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for Admissions staff, providing direction and guidance.
  • Balance financial transactions, including running ticketing system reports, providing change, approving refunds, preparing daily balancing paperwork, and balancing safes.
  • Resolve monetary discrepancies with management.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing for Visitor Services functions and secure additional staffing when necessary.
  • Ensure availability of necessary items for visitor services, including currency, change, office supplies, brochures, and visitor information.
  • Maintain an orderly system for storing and displaying materials.
  • Set an example for high standards of customer service and resolve customer conflicts and concerns.
  • Communicate information regarding promotions, events, and procedures effectively to all staff.
  • Monitor ticketing system for accuracy and currency.
  • Assist in training new staff and monitor operations for accuracy and integrity.
  • Learn and perform the Group Check-in function, including welcoming group leaders, assisting with visit planning, and processing payments.
  • Manage phone calls, voicemails, and emails, including confirmations, inquiries, and daily reporting.
  • Prepare daily reports documenting events, issues, conflicts, and incidents, and note follow-up actions.
  • Serve as a liaison for the Admissions team to all other areas of the Science Center and maintain interdepartmental relationships.
  • Nurture a love for science by staying informed about scientific advancements through reading and professional development.
