About The Position

The Visitor Services and Museum Store Associate is a frontline ambassador for LCM, setting the tone for every museum visit. Associates welcome each visitor with warmth, share information about programming and events, and process all transactions including admissions, memberships, store sales and other duties special events. They ensure every family feels valued and supported while creating a smooth and joyful guest experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of cash handling and credit card transaction experience
  • 1+ year of sales, customer service, or hospitality experience
  • 1+ year of POS system experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Strong customer service, communication, and multi-tasking skills
  • Open availability, weekends, some holidays

Responsibilities

  • Promote LCM’s culture and brand by creating a playful, positive, and welcoming environment.
  • Greet families with warmth and enthusiasm, sharing museum information efficiently and engagingly.
  • Foster strong relationships with members by greeting families by name and personalizing the experience.
  • Orient new visitors to exhibits, programs, and daily schedules.
  • Direct guests to the Museum Store, Acorn Café, and nearby attractions.
  • Process admissions, memberships, birthday party, field trip, and Museum Store transactions using the POS system.
  • Provide friendly, efficient cashier service while accurately processing cash, credit/debit, and other approved forms of payment.
  • Promote and upsell memberships, Museum Store merchandise, and other Museum offerings when appropriate.
  • Assist guests with product selection, pricing, exchanges, and general Museum Store questions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked Museum Store and cashier area.
  • Restock merchandise, organize displays, and assist with inventory counts and product organization.
  • Monitor merchandise levels and communicate replenishment needs to the appropriate team member.
  • Ensure merchandise is accurately priced, tagged, and displayed.
  • Handle cash in accordance with LCM cash-handling procedures, including maintaining register accuracy and safeguarding funds.
  • Open and close registers, verify cash drawers, and complete required register reconciliation procedures.
  • Assemble bank deposits, prepare change orders, and complete required cash-handling documentation.
  • Report register discrepancies, transaction issues, damaged merchandise, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Monitor the Museum entrance and atrium area to support a welcoming, organized, and safe guest experience.
  • Serve as the reception desk for administrative offices by greeting board members, partners, vendors, and other guests.
  • Answer phones, direct calls, and manage package deliveries.
  • Provide general information and assistance to guests while directing questions to the appropriate department when needed.
  • Assist the Education team with visitor surveys, zip code collection, and evaluation projects.
  • Work closely with Museum Experience staff, Play Facilitators, Marketing & Sales and the Group Experience team.
  • Communicate guest feedback, questions, and concerns to appropriate team members.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and participate in ongoing training.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
