American Conservation Experience (ACE), a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), is seeking 1 Visitor Services Member to contribute to visitor services and environmental education projects under the mentorship of Desert National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Staff. This position will help FWS realize its mission at Desert NWR by enhancing visitor services, strengthening community engagement, and advancing recreation opportunities across multiple National Wildlife Refuges in the Pacific Southwest Region. The Member will help deliver education programs, support hunting and fishing programs across three refuges, assist leading outdoor recreation train-the-trainer programs, attend local outreach events, and assist with day-to-day visitor interaction and education. This position is designed to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities and awareness that will continue benefiting the refuge after the Member's term ends. The Member will spend most of their time supporting Desert NWR projects and will have the opportunity to travel to other refuges in Nevada or southern California to assist with their events, programs, and engagement initiatives. This support strengthens collaboration across refuges and ensures the skills developed at Desert NWR will contribute to professional development and broader conservation and public engagement goals. This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups.
