Read below to see if the requirements might be a good fit for you: Applications will be accepted through October 30, 2026 or until a candidate is found Position Summary This position will manage the day-to-day operations of Visitor Services at Denver Botanic Gardens. The primary responsibilities include all aspects of managing the Visitor Services team, including hiring, training, evaluating, motivating, and maintaining staff and volunteers. The Visitor Services Manager is responsible for ensuring all Denver Botanic Gardens visitors have a positive, efficient, and pleasant experience with all Visitor Services staff and volunteers. This position must work closely with most departments to ensure good communication with front-of-house staff and visitors.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills and experience with successfully motivating and training personnel.
  • Clear understanding of current accounting processes.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Proven excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public.
  • Ability to maintain stability under pressure and deal well with stressful situations.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans when necessary, throughout the day.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Must be a positive representative of the Gardens both internally and externally at all times.
  • Must work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and the public.
  • Must be committed to working safely at all times.
  • Bachelors degree and/or combination of education and equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a management position.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing admissions in a museum/cultural environment or work in retail/banking preferred.
  • Strong computer skills in Windows-based applications, retail POS software management and Raiser’s Edge and ATMS software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Visitor Services.
  • Manage the Visitor Services team, including hiring, training, evaluating, motivating, and maintaining staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure all visitors have a positive, efficient, and pleasant experience with Visitor Services staff and volunteers.
  • Work closely with most departments to ensure good communication with front-of-house staff and visitors.
  • Maintain clear communication with Membership & Visitor Services management team to ensure smooth operation of all points of DBG entry and information desks.
  • Supervise the Visitor Services team.
  • Manage the Ambassador Volunteer program.
  • Maintain a model Visitor Services team with focus on providing and maintaining excellent customer service from Visitor Services personnel and Ambassador volunteers.
  • Represent Visitor Services’ needs, wants and expectations in staff and interdepartmental meetings.
  • Ensure accuracy in bank deposits, change orders, drawer reconciliation and shift coverage.
  • Responsible for assigned aspects of Visitor Services staffing including, but not limited to hiring and firing, training, development, disciplinary process, and recognition.
  • Coordinate with Associate Director of Visitor Services and Resource Center on the overall operations of Visitor Services.
  • Review daily shift summaries, investigate discrepancies, implement training and disciplinary action as required.
  • Adjust change fund and complete change orders as needed.
  • Ensure compliance of all DBG and Operating Policies and Procedures.
  • Communicate and ensure compliance with policies for reports, customer service, cash handling, refunds, and admissions opening and closing.
  • Maintain regular admissions hours, as well as operate during special events, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Act as a positive role model.
  • Work with all departments to assure highest quality experience for all DBG visitors within the Visitors Center and throughout the Gardens.
  • Proactively seek to be knowledgeable about all DBG horticulture, exhibits, programs, and events to reflect the experience and brand at the Gardens.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite may be required.
