About The Position

This is a temporary position with no leave or retirement benefits. Temporary employees working an average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). This role serves as the initial point of contact for visitors at the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport, which is open to the public Tuesday - Saturday. The primary purpose of this position is to engage and welcome visitors, ensure excellent customer service, promote museum exhibits, programs, and services, and assure a memorable and safe experience for all visitors.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Dependable and able to work a part-time work schedule
  • Ability to understand basic issues, identify problems and opportunities to determine the appropriate course of action

Responsibilities

  • Engage and welcome each visitor/family/or group as they enter the museum
  • Ensure excellent customer service
  • Promote the museum exhibits, programs, and services within the museum
  • Assure that each visitor and patron has a memorable experience within a safe environment
