Visiting Student – MSD – Zhong, Haotian – 10.21.26

Argonne National Laboratory•Lemont, IL

About The Position

The project explores the synthesis of nitrides using reactive sputter deposition, a process compatible with industrial manufacturing. The student will grow films under varying conditions and characterize them using X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, and electrical transport measurements to establish synthesis–structure–property relationships. The work will contribute to a database of these materials for AI-driven materials synthesis and include development of a virtual sputtering tool based on experimental data. The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States. Applicants must be at least 18 years old when the appointment begins and must meet one of the stated academic eligibility conditions: currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution, graduated from an accredited institution within the past three months, or actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
