Visiting Student-Subcontractor - DSL - Setty, Priyanka - 8.7.26.

Argonne National LaboratoryLemont, IL
Onsite

About The Position

The Visiting Student-Subcontractor will be developing a novel bacterial foundation model and benchmarking it against state-of-the-art genomic foundation models, including Evo2 and Bacformer, on genotype-to-phenotype prediction tasks. The work targets two concrete downstream applications: predicting isoprenol production from bacterial genomes and designing antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). Both applications will be pursued with wet lab validation, allowing experimental feedback to iteratively inform and refine the model.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution.
  • Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months.
  • Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
  • The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.
