About The Position

This position is for the University of New Mexico-Gallup Campus located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. The University of New Mexico-Gallup Campus invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer II/III in Medical Laboratory Technology. UNM-Gallup is one of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico Gallup Campus and serves approximately 2200 students. Located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and Hopi Reservation. The city of Gallup has a population of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoor recreational activities, various museums and extraordinary cultural vibrancy, while maintaining a small-town feel. UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ full time and part-time faculty members. We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training and personal enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup serves multiple high school populations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School and the Center for Career and Technical Education. It is an exciting time to join our faculty as we are expanding our programs, engaging with our community, establishing multiple endowments and grant opportunities while hiring a substantial cohort of new faculty. Lecturers at UNM-G have career advancement opportunities that are outlined in the UNM Faculty Handbook and faculty union collective bargaining agreement. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 30CH course load per year in the area of Medical Laboratory Technology, participate in monthly Division meetings and execute other relevant duties as agreed upon in conjunction with the division chair in an annual faculty-chair agreement.

Requirements

  • An earned bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a closely related field
  • An ASCP BOC or ASCPi BOC generalist certification as a medical laboratory scientist or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated clinical laboratory experience
  • Demonstrated teaching experience
  • Master’s , doctoral or terminal degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a closely related field
  • National or international certification in MLT, MT, MLS or related field
  • Knowledge of MLT educational methods and current accreditation/certification procedures.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.

Responsibilities
