About The Position

A visiting researcher position is available in the Aderibigbe Nutrition Lab within the Department of Animal Sciences. The position is based in Wooster, OH, and will support ongoing poultry nutrition research involving live‑bird trials and laboratory analyses.

Requirements

  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in animal science, poultry science, or a related field is required.
  • Prior experience working with live animals, especially poultry, is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established protocols.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, basic data management, and standard laboratory equipment is expected.
  • Reliable, eager to learn, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a research team.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with tissue sectioning, microscopy and microbiome analysis is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with common laboratory equipment, such as centrifuges, drying ovens, freeze dryer, spectrophotometers, HPLC, viscometer and PCR‑based systems is expected.
  • Documented experience with indigestible nutrient marker analysis (titanium dioxide, chromic oxide etc) is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research activities focused on poultry nutrition, gut physiology, and related metabolic outcomes.
  • Support live poultry nutrition trials conducted under approved IACUC protocols.
  • Provide daily assistance with bird care, feed allocation, sample collection, and accurate record‑keeping during experimental periods (20% of the workload).
  • Perform laboratory tasks associated with sample processing and analysis, including serum and digesta assays, proximate, fiber and mineral analyses, titanium dioxide quantification, and other routine wet‑lab procedures (50% of the workload).
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization, prepare reagents, assist with inventory and ordering of supplies, and ensure compliance with safety and EHS guidelines (10% of the workload).
  • Assist with data entry, basic statistical organization, and preparation of materials for reports, abstracts, or publications (20% of the workload).
