About The Position

Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Teaching, research, department, college, and university service are expected. The primary responsibility of this position is teaching a variety of Sociology courses. The successful candidate should be able to teach a broad range of courses from introductory undergraduate to graduate level. Service and scholarly activities are standard expectations for this position. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Faculty must be willing to teach in a variety of instructional formats (in-person, hybrid, online) as needed and appropriate.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institutions in Sociology is required.
  • ABD candidates with a clear dissertation defense date will be considered.
  • Priority will be given to applicants able to teach courses in Sociological Statistics, Population Studies, Social Welfare Policy, and Introduction to Sociology.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctorate in a related field will be considered (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
