Visiting Asst Professor
About The Position
New Mexico State University’s Department of Economics, Applied Statistics and International Business is hiring a Visiting Economics Faculty member at the Assistant Professor level. The appointment is renewable for up to two years and is scheduled to start January 14, 2027. The role includes teaching and service to the department, college, university, and community. The regular teaching load is 12 credit hours (four courses) each semester in spring and fall. The successful candidate will teach courses, advise undergraduate and possibly graduate students, and provide institutional service. Most classes are in person, with the possibility of online instruction. The position is based in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and follows a standard Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. schedule.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. or doctoral equivalent in Economics or a related field is strongly encouraged; candidates who are ABD in Economics may also be considered.
- Demonstrated strong ability in quality teaching and service.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with partners across the NMSU system.
- Proficiency in Canvas for class design and learning activities.
Responsibilities
- Teach 12 credit hours, or four courses, per semester during the spring and fall.
- Teach courses and advise undergraduate and possibly graduate students.
- Provide service to the department, college, university, and community.
- Collaborate with partners across the NMSU system in support of the College of Business mission.
- Design classes and learning activities in Canvas to enhance student learning and engagement.
