About The Position

The Department of English at the University of Memphis invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication. This position is for an applicant with research interests and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: digital rhetoric, collaborative writing, rhetorical theory, and/or technical communication. The role involves joining the department's undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA, PhD) degree programs in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication (WRTC). The position is non-renewable and contingent upon funding, beginning in Fall 2026 and concluding at the end of the Spring 2027 semester. The University of Memphis is located in Memphis, Tennessee, a city known for its cultural heritage and a significant medical hub.

Requirements

  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis through May 2027.
  • Research interests and teaching experience in one or more of the following: digital rhetoric, collaborative writing, rhetorical theory, and/or technical communication.
  • Ability to join undergraduate (BA) and graduate (MA, PhD) degree programs in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication (WRTC).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching online courses is preferred.

Responsibilities
