About The Position

The Political Science Discipline at St. Norbert College invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position (beginning in August 2027) with a specialization in the areas of Public Law and American Government. Candidates should either be ABD or hold a Ph.D. and be enthusiastic about teaching both introductory and upper-level courses, including Courts, Constitutional Law, Civil Liberties, and introductory American Politics. The ability to teach upper-level courses in parties, elections, Congress, and/or the presidency is a plus. The position includes assisting with pre-law advisement. The teaching load is three courses per semester, which includes typically two introductory courses and one upper division course per semester. The position is offered as a one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal contingent on a positive annual performance review and/or institutional needs. This is an on-site role requiring full-time on-campus attendance.

Requirements

  • ABD or Ph.D. in Political Science.
  • Specialization in Public Law and American Government.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching both introductory and upper-level courses.
  • Ability to submit a letter of application, CV, and teaching statement.
  • Ability to submit a separate 1-page statement describing contribution to and support of the mission and values of St. Norbert College.
  • Willingness to embrace the College's mission and commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive, and spiritually engaged community.
