About The Position

The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Data Science at the University of Mount Union invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science position beginning January 1, 2027. This one-semester non-tenure appointment offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing and innovative computing program that includes majors in Computer Science, Multi-Platform Software Development, and Data Science & Analytics, as well as interdisciplinary offerings in Artificial Intelligence. We seek a dedicated educator with a passion for undergraduate teaching and student mentoring. The successful candidate will contribute to our mission of providing a personalized, hands-on educational experience that prepares students for careers in software development, artificial intelligence, data science, and related fields.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, or a closely related field required.
• Demonstrated commitment to effective undergraduate teaching and student success.

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline preferred.
• Professional experience in software development, data analytics, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, or related fields is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teaching assignment will be determined by departmental needs and the successful candidate's qualifications and may include courses such as: CSC 105 Introduction to Linux, CSC 112 Introduction to Computer Science, CSC 385 Using AI in Software Development, CSC 482 Advanced Artificial Intelligence Systems, DSC 230 Advanced Data Visualization, DSC 360 Big Data Analytics.
