About The Position

The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics invites applications for a position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry for the 2026-2027 academic year (beginning in August 2026). This is a 9-month academic position with a minimum teaching load of 4 courses (or 12 credit equivalents) in each the fall and spring semester. Opportunities for service and scholarship may also be possible, depending on assignment availability and the candidate’s interests. Requirements

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise to lead instruction in coursework from the core curriculum of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics related to areas of instructional need.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty/staff.
• Ability to mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.
• Ability to adhere to administrative requirements of an academic teaching position.

Nice To Haves

• ABD (All but dissertation) and currently enrolled as a graduate student may be considered in special cases.

Responsibilities

• Teach a minimum of 4 courses (or 12 credit equivalents) in each the fall and spring semester.
• Lead instruction in coursework from the core curriculum of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics related to areas of instructional need.
• Teach General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II, and the corresponding laboratories for Biochemistry and General Chemistry.
• Potentially teach other course assignments that align with the candidate’s expertise as needed.
• Work collaboratively with faculty/staff.
• Mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.
• Adhere to administrative requirements of an academic teaching position.
• Opportunities for service and scholarship may also be possible, depending on assignment availability and the candidate’s interests.
