About The Position

The Biology Department at Gannon University is seeking a nine-month, Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 2026. This role involves providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate students. The successful candidate will teach 24 credit hours per academic year, including introductory biology courses (cell/molecular and organismal), upper-level electives, and other departmental needs. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and/or upper-level molecular biology lecture and lab courses. Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline, or will have earned their Ph.D. by June 30, 2026.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach 24 credit hours in the academic year (lectures = 3 credits, labs = 2 credits).
• Teach courses in the introductory majors’ sequence (cell/molecular and organismal courses).
• Teach upper-level electives in their field(s) of expertise.
• Teach other courses in the curriculum as needed.
• Potentially teach anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and/or upper-level molecular biology lecture and lab courses to science and health science majors.
