About The Position

Responsible for transportation and visitation support of Supervised Visitation Services. This role requires a commitment to core values such as racial equity, cultural humility, and a strength-based perspective. The Visitation Aide will work as a proactive and supportive member of the team, consistently attend supervision, and demonstrate self-awareness for growth and change. Key responsibilities include maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for parent-child contact, initiating and maintaining culturally sensitive communication with families and external agencies, and advocating for families. The role also involves administrative tasks such as greeting participants, covering the front desk, assisting with site maintenance, preparing transportation schedules, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year experience working with children and families, particularly families involved with the child welfare system and/or affected by trauma OR Thirty (30) semester hour credits from an accredited college, which must include twelve (12) semester hour credits in the behavioral sciences.
  • Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Vehicle availability.
  • Knowledge of the child welfare system, community resources, social services, and mental health systems.
  • Knowledge of trauma and its effect on children and families.
  • Understanding of professional ethics and issues of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and comfortability with computer applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of county’s local and highway roads.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish or English and Haitian Creole.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize an electronic health record and document daily notes.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle abiding by all applicable traffic laws.
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers through appropriate safety measures including use of seat belts, car and booster seats and/or child safety locks.
  • Comfortability working with families from diverse backgrounds.

  • Flexible working schedule with 5 days per week with evening availability and potential weekend availability.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and eligible for full-time employment on a W‑2 basis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional and safe environment in vehicles, ensuring the safety of children and adults with appropriate safety measures.
  • Ensure the environment for parent-child contact is safe, non-traumatizing, and promotes healthy attachment.
  • Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with families that is culturally sensitive, utilizing family’s preferred language and considering their faith and culture.
  • Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with DCP&P, other providers, and supports.
  • Create an environment that empowers family members to communicate their goals and needs.
  • Utilize various interviewing and/or communication techniques in a culturally competent manner.
  • Recognize non-verbal communication and maintain good eye contact and posture.
  • Advocate for parents/families as necessary and support them in advocating for themselves.
  • Operate from a trauma-informed perspective.
  • Keep the Transportation Signature Log and notify supervisor of any problems during pick-up or drop-offs.
  • Responsible for vehicle maintenance and documentation, including regular service appointments and cleaning. Inform manager of any vehicle problems.
  • Maintain Mileage logs and keep records of any receipts.
  • Document all transportation within EHR.
  • Greet program participants and cover front desk responsibilities as needed.
  • Assist with maintenance of the visitation site and ensuring a clean, safe location.
  • Collaborate with Regional Coordinator and notify them of any site-needs.
  • Report any on-site issues to management as needed.
  • Provide supervised visitation services as needed by the program.
  • Responsible for childcare as needed when not transporting children and adults.
  • Prepare and/or collaborate with the team regarding the daily transportation schedule for pick-up and drop-off of clients.
  • Confirm transportation schedule with necessary adults at designated pick-up/drop-off.
  • Communicate and coordinate the daily schedule, including any changes, to all program staff.
  • Assist with administrative needs such as transporting program supplies, inter-office mail, etc.
  • Recognize client/family signs indicating potential emergency or safety risk, and report to supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
