The Vision Care Coordinator provides onsite support for the coordination of vision health care in the DoD Military Health System and the VA Health System. This role involves supporting service members and beneficiaries with vision-threatening conditions such as ocular trauma and other vision loss injuries, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate care. The coordinator will direct the cooperation of vision care specialists and manage patient movement through the health system. Support will also be provided for beneficiaries with high-risk conditions like retinopathy of prematurity. A key aspect of the role is creating a nationwide coordination network with military hospitals, clinics, and VA facilities across the United States and overseas to assist with ocular care management needs. This includes arranging eye care for patients by managing referrals, patient movement, follow-ups, and monitoring performance metrics to facilitate patient transfers between Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) and allied healthcare providers like the VA health system, in support of the DoD vision care coordination program. The position requires travel within the Continental United States (CONUS) and the National Capitol Region (NCR) for meetings, conferences, and training, along with other assigned duties.
