About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is a leading institution in Nashville, Tennessee, dedicated to advancing health and wellness through patient care, education, and research. The Virtual Care team is seeking a Virtual Technician who will be assigned as either a Monitor Tech or a vSitter, depending on shift needs. The Monitor Tech supports the acquisition and interpretation of cardiac tracings using monitoring equipment for inpatient cardiac disease diagnosis. The vSitter provides technological support via monitors and phones to ensure patient safety for specific patient populations, educating patients, families, and staff on the V-Sitter process. This is a fully on-site position located at the Crystal Terrace building in Nashville, TN.

Requirements

1 year relevant work experience
High School Diploma or GED
Data Interpretation (Novice)
Cardiac Monitoring (Novice)
Medical Terminology & Documentation (Novice)
Medical Devices (Fundamental Awareness)

Responsibilities

Assures that patients who require oversight of vSitting or monitoring are accurately admitted to the monitoring software system.
Acquires, measures, and provides initial interpretation of electrocardiogram waveforms per protocol and upon request from providers and/or nurses.
Imports waveforms into the patient's electronic medical record.
Identifies and communicates abnormal and/or significant changes in cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry readings to the unit staff in the appropriate time frame per protocol.
Notifies unit staff of leads off and low batteries.
Identifies and communicates safety concerns to the unit staff in the appropriate time frame per protocol.
Notifies the Patient Safety Partner runner if adjustments are needed to the equipment.
Serves as a resource to unit staff for camera placement, equipment management and troubleshooting of V-Sitting monitoring equipment.
