About The Position

Monroe Public Schools is seeking two highly qualified and student-centered educators to join Trojan Academy as Monroe Virtual Secondary Teachers. These positions will support students in a virtual learning environment while maintaining high expectations for student achievement, engagement, communication, and instructional excellence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong instructional practices, effective relationship-building skills, and the ability to support diverse student needs in a virtual educational setting. The Monroe Virtual Secondary Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and monitoring virtual instruction for students in grades 9-12. This position requires consistent communication with students and families, active progress monitoring, and collaboration with school staff to support student success in a flexible and engaging online environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with the appropriate secondary (9-12) endorsement(s) required for the assignment.
  • Must meet NCLB Highly Qualified requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully with parents/guardians of students.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning and professional development.
  • Strong communication, organization, and technology skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience teaching in a virtual, blended, or technology-supported learning environment.
  • Experience supporting secondary students in an online instructional setting.
  • Knowledge of digital instructional platforms and student engagement strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality virtual instruction aligned to district curriculum and state standards.
  • Develop and maintain engaging online learning experiences that promote student achievement.
  • Monitor student attendance, participation, progress, and completion of coursework.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic performance and support needs.
  • Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with administrators, counselors, special education staff, and colleagues to support student success.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and district initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with district policies, state requirements, and applicable educational regulations.
