•$17 - $22•Onsite

About The Position

The Virtual Safety Assistant provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients to help prevent harm to themselves or others. The first response to at-risk behavior is verbal redirection; the assistant summons nursing staff when a patient requires assistance. The role requires multitasking, effective prioritization, urgency when observing high-risk behaviors, and adherence to patient and institutional confidentiality and hospital policies. The position is onsite in Newport News, Virginia, with hours of 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM and weekend availability required. The assistant remotely monitors patients and escalates concerns appropriately. The assistant may coach or reassure patients to help them ambulate safely, report safety concerns promptly to floor staff, collaborate in identifying and reporting patient safety issues, and help ensure the patient environment is safe by seeking removal of potential hazards and reporting findings to appropriate staff. Assigned duties must be completed competently, professionally, promptly, and satisfactorily.
