About The Position

BookNook is seeking Virtual Remote Elementary Math & Reading Tutors to provide support to students in grades K-8 across the USA. This is a 1099-eligible independent contractor position with flexible scheduling, primarily focusing on sessions between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM ET, Monday through Thursday. Tutors will deliver pre-designed math and reading lessons using provided digital tools and curricula, requiring no prior lesson preparation. The role emphasizes building rapport with students and creating a motivating learning environment. Tutoring follows the school year, from September to May, with most sessions being 30 minutes long. Tutors must reside and work from one of the specified US states and have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable home environment.

Requirements

• Availability for at least one hour Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday within the time range of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM ET.
• A computer (laptop or desktop) with a webcam.
• A clean and distraction-free environment.
• Reliable, high-speed internet connection speed of at least 20 mbps.
• Reside in and tutor from one of the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Washington, or Washington DC.
• All sessions must be conducted from within the 50 United States or Washington, DC.
• Ability to submit a 5-minute one-way recorded demonstration of tutoring style.
• Clear result on an in-person fingerprint-based FBI background check.

Nice To Haves

• Classroom teacher, EL/ESL/ELL, tutoring, coaching, or similar student support experience.
• Online instruction experience.
• A college degree.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-designed, best-practice math and reading lessons to provide targeted support for students.
• Build meaningful professional connections with students.

• Tutor online from a professional virtual classroom within the USA.

• Attend at least 80% of sessions claimed to provide students stable support.
