About The Position

The Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN) is a member of the Nursing Care Team and is responsible for collaboration, communication & facilitation of optimal provision of care through a computerized &/or digital platform supporting daily management of care. The VRN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring & evaluation of the patient's plan of care from admission to discharge. They utilize clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills & the principles of case management & adult education to coordinate, implement & support the plan of care. The VRN ensures a seamless, effective, efficient transition of care across the continuum. They are responsible for monitoring quality metrics specific to the department & ensuring complete & accurate documentation in the patient record. The VRN performs the roles of: mentor; clinician; educator; consultant / collaborator; and navigator. As a Registered Nurse at Saint Joseph Health System, you are responsible for implementing, directing, communicating, and documenting the nursing process in accordance with current established standards of care and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Our RNs are patient advocates who provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • RN Indiana License.
  • CPR certification on hire or able to attain within 60 days.
  • 2+ years of bedside experience in an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring & evaluation of the patient's plan of care from admission to discharge.
  • Utilizing clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills & the principles of case management & adult education to coordinate, implement & support the plan of care.
  • Ensuring a seamless, effective, efficient transition of care across the continuum.
  • Monitoring quality metrics specific to the department & ensuring complete & accurate documentation in the patient record.
  • Performing the roles of: mentor; clinician; educator; consultant / collaborator; and navigator.
  • Implementing, directing, communicating, and documenting the nursing process in accordance with current established standards of care and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act.
  • Providing a safe environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Mentoring nurses and talking them through care, such as removing a central line or providing Foley care.
