About The Position

The H&R Block Virtual Instructor is responsible for preparing and facilitating training classes for a variety of virtual courses and students at H&R Block. Qualified candidates will exhibit strong tax preparation, communication, and presentation skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years Minimum related work experience
  • 2 years Minimum experience preparing tax returns, including the most recent tax season

Nice To Haves

  • Two to three years combined experience as a Tax Training School (TTS) instructor
  • Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or equivalent and passing the test with a grade of 70% or better
  • Successful completion and/or equivalent tax desk experience for all courses they will be teaching
  • Achieved a level of proficiency using Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Additional state and local requirements may apply

Responsibilities

  • Attend required instructor training programs to study course design, appropriate teaching techniques and administrative duties associated with teaching the course
  • Follow all instructor processes and procedure such as instructor verification and other attendance specific requirements
  • Prepare for class by ensuring that the virtual delivery location is set up, all equipment is properly functioning, and phone/internet is working
  • Review and utilize all course materials, including Instructor Guides, Participant Guides, handouts, and other teaching aids prior to class to deliver course content as designed including completion of all exercises
  • Present and facilitate training classes using a variety of techniques such as exercises, case studies, skills practice, along with question-and-answer sessions
  • Present course content and facilitate the discussion of tax and H&R Block policy and procedures (as required) by drawing on the existing knowledge of students and engaging learners to apply and extend learning
  • Use a variety of facilitation methods and skills to convey course information
  • Stimulate and sustain student motivation and engagement through techniques such as whiteboard, polling, Q&A, class exercises and case studies
  • Use available media to reinforce student learning: Media may include but is not limited to Microsoft Teams, whiteboard, use of software, external websites, and demonstrations
  • Successfully integrate BlockWorks, Inkling eBooks, Microsoft Forms and other applicable software in course delivery
  • Record attendance in a timely manner
