About The Position

BookNook is seeking talented USA-based math tutors to provide virtual tutoring instruction for students in grades K-8. Tutors will support school districts across the United States, meeting with students in consistent, recurring weekly sessions. The role involves delivering pre-designed math lessons, guiding students with supportive corrections, and maintaining virtual student engagement. Tutors will have access to a supportive community, the BookNook virtual classroom, and fully provided lesson content, eliminating the need for lesson prep and planning. This is an opportunity to make a direct, positive impact on students' learning journeys.

Requirements

  • Ability to tutor most weekdays at least one hour between 4 pm to 7 pm ET.
  • Ready to actively participate in the application and onboarding process.
  • USA based.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Experience as a classroom teacher, EL/ESL/ELL, tutoring, coaching, or similar student support.
  • Online instruction experience.
  • Ability to build meaningful professional connections with students and create an encouraging and motivating learning environment with supportive student corrections.
  • A computer (laptop or desktop), webcam, clean and distraction-free environment, reliable, high-speed internet connection speed of at least 20 mbps.
  • Reside in and tutor from one of the specified states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Washington, or Washington DC.
  • All sessions must be conducted from within the 50 United States or Washington, DC.
  • Submit an application online.
  • Applicants may be invited to submit a 5-minute one-way recorded demonstration of their tutoring style using the provided BookNook sample lesson content.
  • An invite may be shared to schedule a 15-minute virtual meeting with a BookNook team member.
  • Onboarding steps include setting up a payment account, sharing a clear result on an in-person fingerprint-based FBI background check (reimbursed up to a maximum of $99), and completion of a paid, self-paced BookNook tutor certification.
