About The Position

Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking a virtual Chief Financial Officer (vCFO) on a part-time basis to provide strategic financial leadership, oversight, analysis, and compliance support to its management team and Board of Directors. This role is intended to complement existing bookkeeping and audit services by offering senior-level financial expertise, strategic guidance, and independent oversight. The vCFO will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborate with the Managing Director, Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors to enhance financial planning, reporting, controls, and organizational decision-making. The engagement requires approximately 10-15 hours per month, with potential fluctuations. While the role can be largely fulfilled remotely, preference is given to candidates based in the Ottawa/Gatineau region for potential in-person meetings.

Requirements

• CPA designation or equivalent professional qualification.
• Strong understanding of financial governance and Board reporting.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience providing contract services.
• Experience at a Director or CFO level working with Canadian NPOs.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online.
