About The Position

The VIP Interior Mechanic III works under minimal supervision to safely perform removals, installations and fabrication of VIP aircraft interiors. This senior-level mechanic leads by example, oversees less-experienced technicians, and ensures that all work meets company and regulatory standards for quality, safety and craftsmanship.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of six years Four to six years recent applicable installation, fabrication, or related experience on VIP aircraft interiors.
  • Applicable Repairman, Airframe or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred; or ability to obtain.
  • Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company, foreign government, foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.
  • This safety-sensitive position is covered by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Any applicant selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment drug testing.
  • Persons occupying a "safety-sensitive” position will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
  • Post-accident, reasonable cause, and return-to-duty tests may also be based on specific circumstances.
  • In‑depth knowledge of VIP aircraft interior installation and fabrication processes, including removal and installation of galleys, cabinets, bulkheads, sidewalls, and decorative components.
  • Experience with composite materials such as wood, honeycomb, fiberglass, sheet metal and veneers.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills; ability to identify problems and implement solutions.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and lead less‑experienced mechanics.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, equipment manuals and work orders.
  • Able to comply with DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Ability to communicate in English (read, write, and verbally communicate).
  • Mathematical knowledge and ability to apply towards problem solving.
  • Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally as part of an established and growing team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, use hands to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and have close/color vision ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and co‑sign for uncertified mechanics in accordance with company procedures.
  • Facilitate on‑the‑job training to provide learning opportunities through work assignments and mentoring.
  • Assist leads with planning, production, and quality assurance of assigned projects.
  • Gather information to submit to Engineering as needed.
  • Manufacture and fabricate monuments and interior components from raw materials including wood, honeycomb, fiberglass, sheet metal and veneers.
  • Fabricate, trim, and install interior components such as galleys, bulkheads, doors, side ledges, game, and conference tables.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, equipment manuals and work orders to perform duties.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs to inspect incoming cabinetry and interior components, removals, inventory, and protection.
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance personnel at all levels by keeping co‑workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.
  • Complete job assignments in a timely manner, including on‑the‑job training forms and required reading.
  • Maintain a clean work area, ensure regular and prompt attendance and conduct effectively.
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
  • Ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and job task performance via Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications.
