Violin/Viola Private Lesson Teacher
About The Position
Kingsley Montessori School is seeking a Private Lesson Violin/Viola Teacher for its After School Music Program. This position is for beginning and intermediate students in Grades P4-6 (ages 4-12). Experience working with and teaching very young students is required. The ideal candidate will have a holistic approach to education, emphasizing sight reading, music theory, composition, ear training, aural analysis, and best practices for young learners. Students will be encouraged to perform in recitals and develop self-practice and self-critique skills. Hours are flexible, typically between 3-6 PM, Monday-Friday, based on enrollment and teacher availability. Teachers will conduct one-on-one weekly lessons.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Music degree.
- Experience with a variety of instructional methods and multi-age learning environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum design and development.
- Commitment to meeting the needs of each student.
- Commitment to professional growth and best practices in education.
- Experience working with and teaching very young students (ages 4-12).
Responsibilities
- Teach one-on-one weekly violin/viola lessons to beginning and intermediate students (ages 4-12).
- Emphasize sight reading, music theory, composition, ear training, and aural analysis.
- Implement best practices for teaching young students.
- Encourage student performance in recitals.
- Guide students in developing ownership of their practice regimen.
- Develop students' vocabulary for guided self-critique.
