About The Position

Teknor Apex is seeking a Vinyl Production Supervisor for the 3rd shift. This role involves providing strong, positive leadership to continually improve Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, and Morale while upholding Core Values and creating a positive work environment. The supervisor will proactively address safety hazards and behaviors, ensure processes are followed, and coordinate with Maintenance and other support groups to achieve departmental and plant objectives. Training and cross-training are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Good leadership soft skills with the ability to be a change agent.
  • Good communicator across various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to think strategically to prevent re-occurring problems.
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and methods is required.
  • Moderate analytic ability is needed to gather and interpret data.
  • Ability to move the team from being reactive to proactive.
  • Ability to prioritize production jobs when equipment problems arise.
  • Ability to use computer and various systems required to perform the role.
  • Between 4-6 years of production experience, preferably with Lead role or higher leadership experience.
  • GED or above.
  • Knowledge of mechanical/technical or business field, acquired through up to eighteen months of education or training beyond the high school level.

Responsibilities

  • Model leadership behaviors that align with Core Values and build relationships and collaboration across shifts and cross-functionally.
  • Model, promote, and uphold Core Values (Accountability, Integrity, Respect, Safety, Sustainability, Innovation & Partnership).
  • Spend 40-50% of time on the floor to engage with the team, recognize positives, audit processes, and coach.
  • Be present and active in end-of-shift turnover, ensuring effective information exchange.
  • Monitor and take immediate action for suspicion of alcohol, smoking, and drug/substance abuse, ensuring team members are fit for duty.
  • Actively audit safe conditions and behaviors, upholding safety rules and policies.
  • Model and coach Core Values, including setting high safety standards and participating in injury prevention programs.
  • Coach and drive 5S principles and improvements.
  • Learn the manufacturing process, equipment, and production roles to support the team.
  • Ensure production processes and SOPs meet ISO 9001 quality system conformance.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Crew Leads in Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, and morale.
  • Be accessible to employees to foster an open-door, team-oriented culture.
  • Participate in meetings and be responsive to email and phone communications.
  • Be accessible to the team and associates via company cell phone.
  • Actively participate in personal leadership development and attend trainings.
  • Support integrated systems and management tools, ensuring processes are followed accurately and consistently.
  • Ensure back-up Leads and operators are in place to cover absences.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
