About The Position
As a live-in member of the residence life hall staff, the Village Coordinator (VC) manages the day-to-day operations of a residential area and creates a community that supports student learning, development, and success. This role is active from July 2026 - June 2027, with the ability to continue if still enrolled in graduate courses.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required with extra-curricular activities and student leadership experience
- Must be an enrolled graduate student at Virginia Wesleyan University and be fully enrolled for the duration of the academic year during which the position is held

- Prior Resident Life experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide guidance, education, and training to resident assistants
- Creates a community that promotes respect and learning
- Oversee programming and administrative requirements for resident assistant staff
- Accurately maintain all housing administrative records related to students in areas of responsibility, including ongoing audit of Health and Safety Inspections
- Serve on an on-call duty rotation to address campus issues and emergencies, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Respond to emergency/critical incidents related to students in the hall per Residence Life emergency procedures
- Oversee the overall general upkeep and facility care of the assigned area, including regular walk-through tours of the residence hall building to effectively monitor the conditions of the facilities
- Work with Facilities Management to follow up on any issues involving residence halls
- Assist with recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of resident assistants
- Assist with Office of Residence Life and campus wide programs and functions (e.g., Orientation, Marlins Day, Hall Opening & Closings)
- Assist with student conduct and disciplinary meetings with residents
- Attend/host weekly professional staff meetings and weekly student staff meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned
