About The Position

This is a multi-hat role, requiring a variety of business skills and experience. On one hand, we need a careful, detail-oriented accountant and bookkeeper, on the other hand someone resourceful at administration and operations with a clear talent for organization and coordination, someone adept at logical and systemic thinking with a collaborative spirit, excellent communication skills, and an enthusiasm for videogames and the videogame industry. The ideal candidate enjoys working with management and a team of talented creatives, with a drive to help us to efficiently create great products. The ideal candidate communicates effectively in a small cross-functional remote team environment. They bring a passion for working within a product development environment, having a collaborative spirit and an enthusiasm for supporting a team of creative individuals. This is a remote, full-time position which requires regular collaboration online during our core work hours (9:30 AM – 5:30 PM Pacific), attending relevant team meetings. Occasional meetings in the Greater Seattle area and calls during late evenings and early mornings should be expected. Applicants must be authorized to work in the USA. Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a small-business accounting and administrative role.
  • Understands government filing and tax rules.
  • Understands employment and payroll regulations.
  • Enthusiastic for videogames and understands the videogame industry.
  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal English language communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, resourceful, able to find solutions on their own.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, able to work fast and loose or carefully with quality when each approach is needed.
  • Strong self-discipline, motivated, a self-starter with a drive for excellence.
  • Courteous and patient, able to give and receive constructive and inspirational feedback gracefully.
  • Able to work effectively within a team having a variety of roles, personalities, and backgrounds.
  • Adaptable: The job can change according to the needs at hand and requires wearing various hats.
  • Able to work remotely using various collaboration tools.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks Online.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Passionate to learn new tools and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Presenting accounting reports and advice to management for data-driven decisions.
  • Creating and presenting financial forecasts.
  • Monitoring and reporting on ROI for marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinating with outside CPAs on tax compliance.
  • Overseeing state and provincial government registrations and filings.
  • Managing vendor relationships, setting up and maintaining billing and payment processes and systems.
  • Handling QuickBooks categorization and bank reconciliation.
  • Monitoring accounts for funding and irregularities.
  • Processing sales tax, use tax, and property tax.
  • Validating timesheets.
  • Overseeing vacation and sick time accruals.
  • Syncing PTO (vacation, sick time) between timesheet and payroll systems.
  • Processing expense reports and reimbursements.
  • Administering 401(k) and Health Insurance enrollments, deductions, and payments.
  • Reconciling benefit deductions from payroll with actual benefit payments.
  • Keeping insurance coverage up to date (e.g., Workers Compensation coverage when workers are hired, terminated, move homes).
  • Ensuring that team members and vendors are issued tax forms: W-2, 1099, T4, etc.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and reporting on market data.
  • Evaluating the ROI of Marketing campaigns.
  • Helping organize and manage Marketing events.
  • Ensuring that each contractor's contract is up-to-date.
  • Administering our pool of external testers.
  • Preparing and facilitating Performance Reviews.
  • Administering eLearning and training compliance.
  • Coordinating time-off requests: scheduling, payroll.
  • Coordinating travel planning.
  • Pre-screening job applicants for follow-up review by the hiring manager and lead.
  • Keeping the hiring process moving, scheduling interviews and providing follow-up communications to job applicants.
  • Leading initiatives, ensuring they are effectively executed.
  • Leading meetings, communicating agendas and following up on action items.
  • Participating in internal game testing and feedback as needed.
