About The Position

This position is available only to enrolled American University students. Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. The AMS (Academic Multimedia Services) Student Video Technician is responsible for recording, editing, and processing video. Student Video Technicians work as a group to share and carry out responsibilities on a scheduled basis. Student Video Technicians also help maintain staff presence in the AMS office and Simple Studio within the University Library, coordinating with clients to meet their needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations to maintain quality control.
  • Eager to learn new video production skills.
  • Leverage existing digital technologies ethically and efficiently to solve problems, complete tasks, and accomplish goals. The individual demonstrates effective adaptability to new and emerging technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud products.
  • Experience with professional HD camcorders and other video/audio equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of video recording/editing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Recording, editing, and processing video from classes, university events, and Simple Studio.
  • Assisting other AMS and AV members with classroom and event production.
  • Organizing and maintaining footage on storage devices.
  • Organizing and maintaining AMS equipment and the Simple Studio.
  • Maintaining staff presence in the AMS office and Simple Studio.
